Industry Talk Thursday (ITT) – 20th July 2017

This week’s Industry Talk Thursday (ITT) was from our very own Mr. Ernie Chen, the President of PORTMAN College. The topic that was brought to us was to “ KILL YOUR FEARS FOR LIVING!”

During the talk, Mr. Ernie introduced three types of fears that we need to get rid of. The first fear we should kill is the fear of rejection. This is because the fear of rejection affects our ability to make right decisions. So, we should kill the fear of rejection and acquire right choices.

The second fear we should kill is the fear of failing. Most people fear that they might go wrong, which leads them to become less judgmental. Reason being, their fear of failing is greater than their desire to succeed. We should consider looking forward to succeeding in thinking of our failures.

The third fear is the fear of success. Some people fear getting out of their comfort zone. They would rather stay in the same position than moving forward and taking the next step in life. We should overcome this fear and improvise ourselves.

Besides that, Mr. Ernie also shared with us many possibilities of a negative outcome that might turn out to be as bad as only 8%. This concludes that we have another 92% of our decisions which has positives outcomes that could trail us towards success.

Thank you Mr. Ernie for being the speaker of ITT for this week! I believe our students have learned a lot from your speech. Once again, thank you Mr. Ernie and your presence is highly appreciated.
